This Palazzo Strozzi (Strozzi Palace) is a striking Renaissance palace is one of the most magnificent palaces in Florence. Construction of the Palazzo Strozzi (Strozzi Palace) commenced in 1489 for wealthy banker Filippo Strozzi, who sadly died two years later.
The sheer size of Florence's Palazzo Strozzi (Strozzi Palace) is simply immense and 15 separate buildings were actually demolished to make space for the palace. Building was finally completed in 1536 and although it only has three storeys, each floor is as tall as a normal palazzo in Florence. Today, the Palazzo Strozzi (Strozzi Palace) is used for Florence art exhibitions and also houses a large and important library.
